I recently downloaded Clean Master on my phone and it detected a system vulnerability called BroadAnywhere. Of course it recommended I download another app which fixes it called CM Security.
First I'm a little skeptical as I know sometimes viruses pretend to be antivirus software to get you to install them. Even if it's not a virus, I don't want to install more bloatware on my phone if I don't need to.
THe other thing is I'm not sure how a single app by itself can fix a system vulnerability given that apps are sandboxed.
But Clean Master has got 100 million downloads and has got 4.5 stars on the Google Play store so that to me indicates they're reputable to me. In addition, a search on google for BroadAnywhere do yield some google search result so it's not an unheard of virus
Is this something I need to be concerned about or should I just ignore it?
To give more information - I have a Htc ONE M8 phone running Kit Kat 4.4.4. I also don't install anything outside of the Google Play store
