Allow network access to employees in China?

The nonprofit I work for is sending employees to China to work. We are providing loaner machines with various third party VPN options to allow them to connect to gmail, godcs, etc. Do you think it would be a security risk to allow them to connect back to our corporate network via an L2TP VPN?
